Traitement en conservation

La conservation d’un tapis le destine à l’exposition non pas à l’usage. Il sera posé sur un support permettant de l’admirer, l’étudier et le conserver comme un document archéologique. L’objectif de la conservation est d’assurer la pérennité de ces pièces tout en préservant leur authenticité. L’essentiel de l’intervention consiste alors à consolider le tapis en stabilisant les zones fragiles.

Le tapis se compose de 50 carrés brodés au point de croix en fils de laine sur canevas et assemblés par couture des bords de canevas entre eux.

Un travail de consolidation a été réalisé sur métier. Le comblement des usures de la broderie au demi-point de croix avec des fils de laine d’une couleur adaptée à la zone traitée a permis la restitution du motif d’origine et, en ciblant les manques de laine noire, a pu donner un résultat esthétique d’une lisibilité retrouvé sans créer de faux historique ni esthétique.
Les déchirures entre les coutures d’assemblage des carrés ont été consolidées sur des morceaux de canevas cousus au revers.
